Of the large channels, X is the one that publishes explicit adult-content rules and applies them with enough consistency to plan around, which is how it ends up as most operators' first channel. That is not the same as it being the best one.

Channel selection in this niche is usually argued on audience size. That is the wrong axis. Every one of these platforms has more audience than a new account can use; what differs is whether the account survives long enough to reach any of it.

On that axis the ranking is fairly stable. Instagram and TikTok are hostile to this content and enforce unpredictably. Reddit is workable but labour-intensive and community-by-community, as our Reddit guide covers. X has comparatively legible rules about adult content and comparatively predictable enforcement, which is why it ends up as the default primary channel for most operators. That is a statement about policy stability, not about quality of traffic.

The four stages, and where it leaks

1. Reach
Something you post is seen. The stage everyone optimises and the one that matters least, because reach without the next three stages is a vanity number.
2. Profile visit
Someone is interested enough to look at the account. This is where a coherent persona earns its keep: the profile has to answer 'what is this and is it worth my time' in about two seconds.
3. Click out
The stage that actually leaks. The gap between someone enjoying a post and someone leaving the platform to go somewhere else is the widest gap in the funnel, and almost nobody measures it.
4. Subscribe
The landing destination converts, or it does not. This stage is a function of the destination rather than the channel, which is why diagnosing it as a traffic problem sends people optimising the wrong thing.

The practical consequence: if your numbers are bad, find out which stage is bad before changing anything. Poor reach and poor click-out look identical in a subscriber count and require opposite responses.

What to link to

Not the paywall. Send traffic to a landing page or link hub that you control, for three reasons that all matter more than the extra click costs you.

  1. Measurement. A destination you own is the only place you can see stage 3 separately from stage 4.
  2. Portability. If you change platforms, or a platform changes you, the funnel survives. Links posted months ago keep working.
  3. Policy headroom. Several channels restrict direct links to paid adult platforms while permitting a link to a page that then links onward. That is not a loophole to lean on, but it is a real constraint that a controlled destination handles and a direct link does not.

The disclosure obligations covered in the disclosure guide follow the content, not the platform. A platform badge does not travel with an image that has been reposted elsewhere, which is the argument for carrying disclosure on the media itself.

Can I automate posting?

No, and attempting it is the most reliable way to lose the account. Scheduling posts you wrote is different from generating engagement automatically; the second is what enforcement looks for.
